THE University of Worcester men's basketball team remain on course for a fourth British Universities and Colleges Sport title in a row.

Having secured the crown in each of the last three years, the team have now qualified for the quarter-finals on Saturday, March 15.

They booked their date against University College London with a 104-48 demolition of Bath in the last 16 at the University Arena.

Daniel Belgrave, who is also part of the Worcester Wolves British Basketball League team, top-scored with 23 points, followed by David Eden with 16.

Belgrave's Wolves team-mates Harry Turner and Caylin Raftopoulos scored 14 each.

Wolves star Will Creekmore is also part of the team, as he studies at the university, but was rested ahead of last night's BBL encounter against Newcastle Eagles.

Director of basketball Paul James said: "We are going for a fourth title in a row. It would be quite an achievement if we could do it but there are some tough games ahead.

"This is the first time we have only had one of our main BBL players in so it's been a challenge but we are still in there fighting."

The university finished fourth in the Premier North Division and could face Durham, who topped the table ahead of Sheffield Hallam and Loughborough, in the last four later this month.

James added: "This is the strongest the league has been since I have been here and more and more teams are following the Wolves model of having scholarship players who are playing for BBL teams."
