NEW manager Gary Whild believes Kidderminster Harriers are more than capable of arresting their slump in form.

Whild was installed in the Aggborough hot-seat on Wednesday after Andy Thorn was sacked following just 56 days in the role.

The former Redditch boss, who was assistant under Thorn's predecessor Steve Burr for three and-a-half years, is faced with picking up the pieces after a run of four defeats in eight Skrill Premier matches.

First up is tomorrow's trip to Wrexham (3pm) as Harriers look to get themselves climbing towards the play-off places once again.

Whild said: “I’m looking forward to getting back in with the lads and getting things back on track.

“It’s going to be hectic in terms of the game coming up tomorrow but I know these lads and what they’re capable of – they’ve proved that over a long period of time.

“It’s been a difficult season but we know what the group of players here is capable of after finishing second last season. Harriers are a good club with a great reputation.

“Hopefully we can put some smiles on the faces of the players and the supporters and start picking up some results."

Harriers are aiming to bounce back from last Saturday's 5-1 drubbing at Cambridge United, a result that proved to be Thorn's last in charge.

The former Coventry boss had come under increasing pressure from the fans and the board decided to act, with new chairman Ken Rae claiming the change was needed to keep Harriers' promotion dream alive.

Whild, who is contracted to the club until 2016, added: “I’m proud of what Steve Burr and myself had been able to achieve and hopefully we can rekindle some of that now and get everybody singing from the same hymn sheet.

“In the three and-a-half years I’ve been involved with Kidderminster I’ve become very fond of the club and the supporters."

Anthony Malbon's first goal since November was one of the few highlights of the Cambridge defeat and the striker will be keen to add more to his tally at the Racecourse Ground.

Fellow goal-getter Ryan Rowe and midfielder Callum Gittings both came off the bench at the Abbey Stadium and will be pushing for a starting spot.

Wrexham, under caretaker boss Billy Barr, ended a run of four games without victory by with last weekend's 2-0 win at Hereford.
