KIDDERMINSTER Harriers fans are set to put their best foot forward to raise around £20,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support next week.

Fifty-two supporters, including legendary player Mick Tuohy, will kick-off a 65-mile two-day trek to Forest Green Rovers in time for Tuesday's Skrill Premier match.

The group are due to leave Aggborough at 6am on Monday and arrive at The New Lawn to watch Harriers take on their play-off rivals in the Skrill Premier.

The charity event has been organised in honour of former Kidderminster Harriers Independent Supporters Trust chairman Steve Millington, who lost his battle with cancer last year.

Wyre Forest manufacturing firm Beakbane donated £500 to sponsor the red tops walkers will wear,

taking the amount raised to £17,000.

It is hoped to add to that total with a bucket collection at today's league match against Grimsby Town at Aggborough (3pm) and at Tuesday's game at the New Lawn.

Organisers Dave Pountney and Karl Davies are hoping their target of £20,000 will be surpassed in the process.

Davies said: “The response we’ve had is absolutely fantastic. People want to get involved and raise money for a great cause."

Over the two days, walkers are expected to burn up 10,000 calories, which is four times the recommended daily amount for the average male.

Meanwhile, Marvin Johnson played a key role in Hednesford Town's dramatic late fightback against Brackley Town to draw 2-2.

The winger, on loan with the Skrill North Pitmen until the end of the season, set up Paul Sullivan's goal before Wayne Riley fired the equaliser.

Johnson, who requested a move away from Aggborough in search of regular football, made his debut in last Saturday's 1-0 victory at Stockport County.
