CLAINES trainer Dr Richard Newland has won the Crabbie's Grand National with Pineau De Re in his first bid for the famous crown.
The 25-1 hope beat Balthazar King (14-1) after storming through in the late stages under veteran jockey Leighton Aspell.
The 11-year-old is owned by John Provan and Newland.
Nine-year-old Alvarado (33-1), owned by William and Angela Rucker from Himbleton and trained by Fergal O'Brien in Gloucestershire, finished fourth.
