CARL Heeley says one poor result should not detract from what Worcester City have achieved this season.

The Aggborough outfit lost for only the second time since the end of February in going down 1-0 at Leamington at the weekend.

It cost them the chance to leapfrog the Brakes in the Skrill North table and instead leaves them in 15th with five games to go.

But Heeley says the club’s sole aim was to survive in non-league’s second tier and they are well on the way doing so, with an 11-point cushion above the bottom three.

He said: “The table takes care of itself but I don’t think we need to lose focus about what the aim was at the start of the season.

“Everybody would have taken one place out of the relegation zone and we’re doing considerably better than that. As much as we set little targets and we want to finish strongly, we’ve achieved our goal.

“It’s been very physical and mentally draining on us and I think we are looking forward to the end of the season but, that said, we can’t allow the season to peter out.

“We won’t dwell on Saturday, we can’t do anything about it. We were disappointed in the way we all performed but we move on to the next one, that’s all you can do in football.”
