FANS have been urged to throw their support behind Worcester City to ensure they can continue to survive in exile and one day return home.

It is almost 12 months since City left St George’s Lane to ground-share at Kidderminster Harriers.

But the club’s supporters’ trust submitted plans to Worcester City Council this week for a new circa 4,000-capacity stadium at Perdiswell.

Designs were shown to more than 200 fans in a meeting at Worcestershire CCC.

They were told of the trust’s vision to change the club’s constitution so it could be owned by supporters in the future and become a focal point of the community.

Trust chief David Wood pleaded with fans to play a part in ensuring the Skrill North club survive by buying season tickets and joining the weekly gold bond lottery.

“We are at a watershed moment to make this happen,” Wood said. “The board of directors have done a fantastic job but fans can really make a difference by getting actively involved.

“I encourage you all to get behind this new project, it’s a very exciting time. I want my grandchildren to have a football club to be proud of like I have. The club won’t survive without your help.

“We have to use gold bond and season tickets to give Carl Heeley and his team a fighting chance.”

The trust hope for a verdict on planning permission within 13 weeks and are commissioning an independent feasibility study to scrutinise the cost of a new ground.
