Worcester News: City victory "sensational" declares delighted Heeley City victory "sensational" declares delighted Heeley

MANAGER Carl Heeley described Worcester City’s performance in beating Boston United 3-0 as “sensational”.

The Blue and Whites signed off the campaign in style with their 13th victory of the campaign courtesy of two Tyler Weir strikes and one from top-scorer Daniel Nti.

“I thought we were sensational,” Heeley said. “The second-half is as well as we’ve played all season. Considering we were playing against a team who had to beat us to get in the play-offs, we looked like the side who had more desire.

“I thought we bossed the game for 90 minutes all over the park and if had been more convincing I don’t think anybody could have argued.”

He continued: “We tried to impress on the players to put a show on for the home fans because they’ve been good enough to make an effort to travel across from Worcester.

“It’s always nice when you get a good away following, because it adds a bit of spice, but it was about us putting on a performance on for our own fans.

“They can all go away delighted and we can look forward to the summer now and have a few weeks off.

“In an ideal world, we wanted to try to better our points total from last season but I appreciate that was probably a target too much. But to equal our points record in such an emphatic style, we’re delighted with that.”

On Weir’s double, the City manager said: “They were two super strikes. The first one he moved the defender out of the way and hit it back across the keeper and the second one was a fabulous strike.”

Heeley also praised the efforts of Nti, who scored his 16th goal of the campaign against Boston.

He said: “I think there’s a lot of improvement in Dan’s game but for a first season, his goal return has been quite impressive. What we’ve got to remember, for eight to 10 weeks he had a really barren spell when he was just lost form. But he’s come back with a bang and I thought he was brilliant against Boston.”
