ROSSENDALE and Darwen Tory MP Jake Berry has welcomed new figures showing joblessness in his constituency has dropped by nearly a quarter in the last 12 months.
The latest official statistics show unemployment is now 3.1 per cent, with 1,515 people claiming Job Seekers’ Allowance in May 2014 compared to 1,968 a year ago.
The news comes after Mr Berry’s jobs fair last month saw 50 people offered jobs and dozens more offered interviews.
Welcoming the figures, the MP said:“I’m delighted to see unemployment in Rossendale and Darwen is continuing to fall.”
