STRIKER Reece Hales will get an early reunion with his former Birmingham City team-mates when the Blues face Kidderminster Harriers today (3pm).

The 19-year-old, who has just agreed a one-year deal at Aggborough, is set to line up against the Championship club in Harriers’ latest pre-season friendly.

Hales has impressed manager Gary Whild over the summer along with former Bristol Rovers full-back Jake Green, who has also signed for the 2014-15 Conference Premier campaign.

The pair are likely to complete Whild’s transfer business with the start of the new season just two weeks away.

Green, whose brother Matt is a striker for Birmingham, is a versatile and energetic player who caught the eye in a number of the club’s warm-up matches in recent weeks.

Comfortable in both full-back berths and out on the flanks, the 20-year-old could fill the gap left by Mickey Demetriou’s departure to Shrewsbury Town.

Hales was released from St Andrew’s towards the end of last season, having also spent a spell on loan at Aggborough tenants Worcester City in Conference North.

The teenager is likely to start low down the pecking order at Kidderminster given that Whild has already signed Craig Reid and Reece Styche to complement Michael Gash.

But he will be keen to show Blues boss Lee Clark what he is missing when the sides meet today in front of a crowd expected to top 3,000.

“I’m looking forward to seeing all the lads and hopefully I can show what I used to show at Blues at Kiddy,” said Hales, who was among the scorers in the 4-0 win at Stourport Swifts last Tuesday.

Hales progressed through the ranks at Blues, making his first-team debut in the FA Cup at Leeds United in January, 2013.

Freddie Ladapo, another forward on the Harriers books after joining on a free transfer from Colchester United in January, has not featured much in pre-season.
