SQUAD building continues apace at Worcester Wolves with the signing of American guard Sean Park.

The 24-year-old joins from California’s Chico State University, where he helped the Wildcats reach the Elite Eight of the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division Two tournament, which was the best achievement in the school’s history.

Park, who stands at 6ft 4ins, becomes the fourth new arrival of the summer following on from fellow guard Chavis Holmes and centres Donatas Visockis and Robert Thurman.

Captain Alex Owumi has also returned to the University Arena club along with forwards Jamal Williams and Kalil Irving and guard Disraeli Lufadeju.

Director of basketball Paul James said: “Sean is a player who will fit in well to our system and contribute to our team ethos.

“He knows how to put the ball in the hole and will be an asset and extend the depth of our team.”

In his final season as a Wildcat, Park averaged 13 points per outing as well as pulling down five rebounds and serving up a couple of assists.

The American said: “I’m very excited to be joining the Wolves.

“As a rookie, it was important for me that I become a part of a winning situation.

“I look forward to doing whatever I can to help bring a championship to Worcester.”

Trophy and play-off champions Wolves begin their British Basketball League campaign at defending champions Newcastle Eagles on Friday, September 26.

Point guard Zaire Taylor and centre Will Creekmore have departed Worcester during the close-season, while the future of small forward Kai Williams remains uncertain.
