KIDDERMINSTER Harriers are chasing their best start to a season for nearly a quarter-of-a century tomorrow.

Victory against Dartford at Aggborough (3pm) would equal Harriers’ best return from their opening three games since the 1990-91 campaign, when they defeated Barrow 3-0, Bath City 3-2 and drew 3-3 with Fisher Athletic.

It is already their best beginning for a decade following a 0-0 draw at Lincoln City and 3-0 home victory over Alfreton Town.

But manager Gary Whild is not about to get carried away his side’s impressive form.

“I am delighted with the way we have played in the first two games but it’s a bit early to be getting carried away,” he said. “If we can get to the nine or 10 game stage unbeaten that would be good.

“We’re expecting a tough game against Dartford.

"They’re a side who had a reprieve from relegation last season and will be looking to make sure they are not involved in a battle again.”

Midfielder Josh O’Keefe is the only injury doubt for tomorrow because he needs a scan on a foot injury.

Jack Byrne returned against Alfreton following a hamstring injury and completed 89 minutes before being replaced by Reece Styche.

Chey Dunkley scored twice against the Derbyshire outfit, alongside an effort from Marvin Johnson, and Whild was pleased with the contributions of captain Kyle Storer, Kevin Nicholson and Jared Hodgkiss.

The Kidderminster boss said: “Chey is a big, strong lad who likes to attack the ball, but the quality of delivery was excellent as well.

“If we’ve got balls like that coming into the box then there’s every chance we will score goals.

“Kevin and Jared are experienced players and I have been very pleased with the way they have settled into the side.”
