CARL HEELEY: Searching for first win of the season.

CARL Heeley felt Worcester City missed out on getting something from Guiseley by a small margin.

The manager said: “To me, the big moment is we have a chance and our lad misses with his header from five yards out.

“Then they have a chance with the same kind of ball and take it. The game was decided in the penalty areas with those chances.

“Nick Wright hit the outside of the post and that was another chance.

“Things just didn’t drop for us on Saturday and if they had, then it could have been a different story.”

Heeley, though, was pleased with the performance of his men and continued: “We had possession for about 70 per cent of the second-half.

“In the first-half, we faced a strong wind and did well to prevent them from really causing us much harm.

“The only criticism I can have is we did not test their keeper as much as we should have in the second period, but I think Guiseley know we have caused them problems.”

Heeley was also quick to praise his opponents and said: “Guiseley will be challenging to win the league with a couple of other clubs but we have pushed them all the way.

“A lot of teams this season will come to this ground and struggle and lose, so for us to put that performance in is a good thing for the lads.”

Heeley felt his side have been unlucky to have missed out on more points during the campaign.

He added: “So far this season, I could argue we should have been on six points before Saturday and I feel we should have gained something at Guiseley.

“It is those small margins, which mean we go into the game this weekend on two points instead of seven or nine.

“But we move on and know there will be a time during the season when things will go our way, so we now just look at the matches taking place next Saturday and the following Monday.”
