WORCESTER Wolves have completed their summer recruitment programme by retaining pint-sized point guard Caylin Raftopoulos for another season.

Raftopoulos is the 10th player to commit to the British Basketball League side for the 2014-15 campaign.

He is also the third England player to pledge his future to the University Arena outfit, following on from forward Kalil Irving and shooting guard Disraeli Lufadeju.

Although director of basketball Paul James has drafted in a host of overseas talent, he will be looking for his home-grown trio, all students at the University of Worcester, to make their mark.

Irving was a key player for the Wolves last season with Lufadeju and Raftopoulos used less frequently.

All three were also part of the university team that won the British Universities and Colleges Sport title for the fourth year running.

“Caylin undoubtedly has a lot of potential and, having played last season within the Wolves programme, he knows what he has to do to impact on the team this season,” James said.

“I expect him to contribute to the team’s success this coming season.”

Raftopoulos added: “I’m happy to be back after last season’s success and I hope to make a bigger contribution in the team’s pursuit of more silverware this year.”

Wolves have also re-signed captain Alex Owumi and Jamal Williams, while bringing in Robert Thurman, Donatas Visockis, Chavis Holmes, Sean Park and Remi Dibo.

Small forward Kai Williams has joined Swedish side KFUM Umea Basket.

Wolves open the new campaign on Friday, September 26, with a trip to defending champions Newcastle Eagles before hosting Cheshire Phoenix the following Friday.
