MANAGER Carl Heeley believes Worcester City can take plenty of belief from having pushed Tamworth all the way at Aggborough.

Despite only picking up a point, after Kevin Thornton cancelled out Mike Symons’ opener, the Blue and Whites were the equal of the visitors throughout.

They are yet to win, having drawn three of their four games and lost the other, but Heeley reckons there is much better to come.

He said: “You want to win your homes but credit to both sets of players because it was a super game of football, very entertaining with chances at both ends.

“I was pleased with how strongly we finished but, on reflection, a point apiece is probably a fair result. If we were getting soundly beaten each week I’d be really worried but every game could have gone either way.

“I think we’ve got good footballers, some experience, youth and pace in the side and we’ve got a physical presence if we need it. I think all the attributes are there.

“If we get that first win the whole season looks totally different with the belief that a win does for you.”

He added: “We’re creating opportunities and it’s just not dropping to us, balls are just going the wrong side of the post.

“There were big appeals for a penalty in the second-half and I’d like to see that again because in the first-half the ball struck Graham Hutchison from a yard and that one travelled a few yards - if his hands are up it’s a penalty.

“Things like that need to go our way. It didn’t on Saturday but it was a solid performance with some really good signs.

“Tamworth are of the favourites and we’ve gone blow to blow with them.”

With the score at 1-1, Graham Hutchison had a header saved by keeper James Belshaw before the centre-half denied David Hibbert a winner at the other end.

Heeley said: “It was a super block because the kid looked odds-on to score. That’s part and parcel of his job but he’s done it well.”
