WORCESTER City manager Carl Heeley is demanding his mis-firing side score more goals.

City, who were the second lowest scorers in the Conference North last season, are already the joint lowest this time around with Brackley on five from seven games.

Following their fourth blank of the campaign in Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at Barrow, Heeley is demanding better.

The Blue and Whites boss has also not ruled out scouring the market for a player to end the drought.

He said: “I’m disappointed in the number of goals, I think the players we’ve got should be scoring more goals.

“Our goals-for column should read a lot more than it does and that’s something that you can only look at for so long and then you’ve got to make tough decisions.

“To win games of football you’ve got to score goals and we’re not scoring enough at the moment.

“I couldn’t ask any more of them on Saturday, they worked hard and gave everything they’ve got but we struggled to fashion chances, and have in some other games this season, so that’s a frustration.

“We’re not far away but, that said, the brutal fact is we aren’t scoring enough goals. You can work as hard as you like and defend as well as you like but you’ve got to stick the ball in the net and it’s something we’ve got to try to address over the next week.”

Heeley, whose side host Lowestoft Town at Aggborough tomorrow (7.45pm), added: “I think we had some good situations in both halves against Barrow but the final ball was lacking.”
