SEAN Geddes scored a debut goal as Worcester City beat Lowestoft Town 2-1 in a fiery Aggborough encounter in which both sides finished with 10 men.

Geddes, a new signing from Stourbridge, produced a powerful header from Connor Gater's cross eight minutes before the break as City defied being a man light following Ellis Deeney's early red card.

The skipper was sent off by referee Daniel Meeson for a two-footed challenge on Ross Jarvis after just 11 minutes.

But the hosts remained the better team and Daniel Nti doubled their advantage eight minutes into the second-half, heading home Danny Jackman's free-kick, awarded after Robert Eagle had been sent off for an ugly lunge on George Williams.

Chris Henderson pulled one back in the 90th minute for Lowestoft but City held out for their second successive home win.

Geddes almost made the dream start to his City career in the third minute as he met Nti's cross and turned the ball into the side netting.

Despite Deeney's dismissal, City carved out the better openings and a brilliant piece of improvisation from Nti saw the striker wriggle away from two defenders before fizzing a drive inches over the bar.

Nathan Vaughan made a good double save to deny Lowestoft skipper Sam Gaughran and then Shaun Bammant.

But it the hosts, who also had Wayne Thomas booked after 60 seconds, worked a fine move to open the scoring, Gater eventually delivering a delicious cross from the left for Geddes to rise and plant a header past Ashlee Jones.

City moved further clear seconds after Lowestoft had been reduced to 10 men.

Eagle clattered into Williams to get his marching orders and, from the free-kick, Jackman picked out Nti who headed his third goal of the season.

Vaughan tipped a long-range Adam Smith drive over but City went in search of more goals and workhorse Mike Symons and substitute Daniel Udoh were both denied by Jones.

Late Lowestoft pressure resulted in Henderson nodding in Smith's free-kick but it was too little too late.
