GEORGE Williams says Worcester City are intent on despatching Rugby Town at the first time of asking when the sides meet in the FA Cup this afternoon (3pm).

The Blue and Whites needed a replay to advance last season after their third qualifying round clash ended 0-0 at Aggborough.

But reigning player-of-the-season Williams feels they will be better for the experience and is optimistic of success against the Southern League Division One Central outfit in today’s second qualifying round tie.

The right-back said: “We are looking forward to it. It’s a distraction from the league and it’s a chance to do well in a competition that we want to do well in because of the prizes on offer and maybe getting a good draw.

“Rugby are a good side, they pass the ball well but we have played them before so we know what to expect so it should be a good game.

“We saw last year that they are a decent side and if we don’t take them seriously we won’t get the result.”

Williams also believes that City’s impressive form at Aggborough will hold them in good stead against the Butlin Road side.

Worcester are unbeaten in five Vanarama Conference North matches at their temporary headquarters this term and have tasted defeat just once at Aggborough since the turn of the year.

In contrast, Heeley’s men haved yet to win or score on their travels in six attempts so far this season.

“We are hoping to get a good win at home, we are doing well there so hopefully we can carry that on,” Williams said.

“It’s a good pitch and we are all used to playing there. We just need to bring that form into our away games.”

City thrashed Bedworth United 5-1 in the FA Youth Cup first qualifying round with a hat-trick from Lucas Muckley and one each from Mike Ghiglier and Robbie Trumper.
