MANAGER Gary Whild says he won’t make changes for the sake of it as Kidderminster Harriers bid for a first win in three matches against Welling United tonight (7.45).

The Harriers boss was angered by his side’s showing in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with basement boys Telford United, citing a lack of commitment in the Vanarama Conference clash.

The result followed a 1-0 defeat at Wrexham and leaves Harriers 10th in the table, five points adrift of the top five.

Tonight they are back at Aggborough in front of the BT Sport cameras and Whild is preparing to keep faith with his players but must replace suspended centre-half Josh Gowling.

“In terms of making changes, you don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater,” he said. “It’s the first time this season I’ve seen them lacking energy, desire and a bit of spark.

“We can’t make wholesale changes and, even if we could, I’d be reluctant to.”

Whild is likely to call upon Jamie Grimes after three games out with a foot injury in place of player-coach Gowling, who misses one game for picking up five bookings.

The match is set to feature a protest from Hereford United fans keen to bring their plight to a national audience.

Bulls’ supporters angered by the Football Association’s perceived lack of action over the running of the Edgar Street club, with claims that former members of staff remain unpaid, are expected to travel in large numbers to their near neighbours.

They have the backing of Kidderminster Harriers Independent Supporters’ Trust and the Aggborough club’s board.

Welling are 17th in the table but on a run of five games unbeaten, including a 4-0 win at Altrincham 10 days ago.
