KIDDERMINSTER Harriers are on the trail of more FA Cup success when they launch their quest for glory against Eastleigh in the fourth qualifying round tomorrow (3pm).

Harriers reached the fourth round last season, eventually losing 1-0 at Premier League Sunderland having previously defeated Peterborough United, Newport County, Sutton United and Bradford Park Avenue.

It banked the club £125,000 in prize money and put the Aggborough outfit under the national spotlight.

Manager Gary Whild was part of the run as assistant to Steve Burr but he was asked to stay away after Burr was controversially sacked and replaced by Andy Thorn, who was in charge for both the Peterborough replay victory and Sunderland adventure.

Tomorrow’s home match pits Harriers against Vanarama Conference rivals Eastleigh, who are one place above Whild’s side in the table but level on points.

“It’s very hard to replicate last year’s run, that sort of thing only happens rarely but we want to see how far we can go this year,” the Kidderminster boss said.

“No-one would have predicted the club would reach the fourth round after we were so close to being knocked out by Bradford Park Avenue at the first hurdle.”

He continued: “I wasn’t surprised when they defeated Peterborough and played Sunderland because I had put the team together with Steve Burr.

“Of course it was tinged with sadness because neither of us were involved in those later games and should have been.”

Kyle Storer is back in contention after serving his one-match ban in the 2-0 league defeat at Halifax last Saturday but midfield colleague Jack Byrne sits out the cup clash after picking up five bookings.

Captain Josh Gowling continues to miss out with the shoulder injury sustained in the 3-3 draw at Barnet earlier this month.
