SUNDAY is usually a day of rest and a chance to spend some time with family and friends.

But that luxury in the hectic nature of modern-day life has taken a back seat this month as Worcester City prepare to continue their FA Cup adventure.

Less than 24 hours after the Blue and Whites had despatched Harrogate Town 2-0 in Vanarama Conference North at Aggborough last Saturday, manager Carl Heeley and assistant Matt Gardiner were clocking up the miles.

The pair turned their backs on a quiet Sunday afternoon to travel to Kent to run the rule over Greenwich Borough, tomorrow’s opponents for Worcester in the FA Cup fourth qualifying round (3pm).

Borough ground-share at Dartford’s Princes Park and Heeley and Gardiner watched them defeat West Wickham 4-1 in the Kent Senior Trophy, which included a hat-trick from Aaron Jeffery.

It was an opportunity to ensure no stone was left unturned ahead of the cup clash, which is a rare Sunday match for City with landlords Kidderminster Harriers at home today.

It is also being played on the same day as the start of Greenwich Mean Time.

“I expect three or four changes from the team we saw last week but we know all about the rest of the players,” Heeley said.

“It will be a tough game and we are taking nothing for granted.

“We are preparing as we would for any other game but have got to be confident and we have got a great record to be proud of at Aggborough.”

City, who have joined forces with Stourport-based Coniston Coaches to provide free travel for fans tomorrow, have also seen a change to their routine this week.

Instead of being put through their paces as usual on Tuesday, the squad were the guests at David Lloyd Leisure Club at Sixways ahead of a full training session on Thursday.
