KEVIN Nicholson admits he will be putting his Torquay United allegiances to one side today (3pm) as Kidderminster Harriers aim to get their season back on track.

The Harriers left-back played more than 300 times for the Devon outfit before being released in the summer after more than seven years at the club.

But he was brought to Aggborough on non-contract terms and has since been an ever-present for Gary Whild’s team this season. With the club’s finances also looking better, despite their FA Cup exit last weekend, the 34-year-old has revealed he has agreed a permanent contract.

Nicholson can’t wait to line up against his former employers but he will be fully focused on securing Harriers’ first Vanarama Conference victory in three attempts.

“I have been rooting for Torquay all season and will do after this weekend – but not today of course,” he said.

“I still want to prove I shouldn’t have been let go. In football you always want to prove something to somebody. No one has got a divine right to do anything in this league. We’ve certainly got work to do.

“But I just hope we can get it right this weekend and then Torquay can do it the following week.”

Nicholson still lives in Torquay and only travels up to Kidderminster for training on Thursdays and Fridays and for matches.

The defender is also expecting a large crowd at Aggborough as Harriers aim to get themselves back in the play-off picture.

He said: “If the game was at Plainmoor, it would be even bigger for me, but I imagine Torquay will still bring a load of fans with them. I think both clubs have suffered from a certain level of expectation — we were unbeaten in our first seven games and Torquay had a great run too — but there shouldn’t be any real expectation in the Conference.”

Meanwhile, Conference North outfit Tamworth have revealed the surprise capture of Harriers forward Reece Styche on loan.

The 25-year-old, who arrived at Aggborough from Forest Green in the summer, has signed for a month.

Styche scored twice for Harriers and started in last weekend’s 1-0 FA Cup defeat to Eastleigh.
