A HOST of local football teams have again cancelled their fixtures to follow Worcester City in the FA Cup.

When the Blue and Whites travelled to Coventry City earlier this month, a match they won 2-1, 24 teams from the Worcester and District League were given permission to call off matches to follow Carl Heeley's side.

Now, 10 have been allowed to call off matches on Sunday, December 7, for City's second round tie at Scunthorpe United.

Teams can apply to move fixtures and normally have to give six weeks notice but the league have made City's cup run a special case.

Secretary Tim Phillips said: "We want to give Worcester City as much support as possible. It's been 10 years since this happened and it may be another 10 years until it happens again.

"We will allow those clubs to close the date without the six weeks notice."

Matches missed by the teams will be rearranged for later in the season.
