STRIKER Nathan Blissett has become the latest player to leave cash-strapped Kidderminster Harriers.

Just 24 hours after defender Chey Dunkley joined Oxford United, Blissett has signed for Harriers’ Conference rivals Bristol Rovers.

He has joined on loan until January, when the move will become permanent.

No details have been released regarding a fee for Blissett, who has scored four goals this season.

The duo’s departure is part of a cost-cutting exercise at the Aggborough club, which has also seen key players, including striker Michael Gash, sent out on loan.

However, centre-half Dunkley still believes Harriers have enough in the tank to challenge for promotion this season.

Dunkley, who spent two years at Harriers, reckons Gary Whild’s side can push for honours despite their financial crisis.

Harriers, who visit Grimsby Town tomorrow (3pm), are only four points behind fifth-placed Rovers, a side they held to a 1-1 draw at the Memorial Ground last weekend.

“I know it’s a lot of footballers’ dreams to play at this level and it’s something that I’m looking forward to,” Dunkley said.

“But it’s hard to leave Kiddy without achieving promotion to the Football League with them because I would have liked to have done that.

“They are still only four points away from a play-off position and, after a hard-earned point at Bristol Rovers, I think the lads can really kick on now.

“It’s an open league and if Kiddy can keep getting points towards Christmas then I’m sure they will be aiming to stay up that part of the table.”

Dunkley made his 100th appearance for the Aggborough club at Rovers and praised the fans for their support during his time at the club.

He said: “Even when times were hard, they’ve come to support the team and stuck behind me and the lads, and I hope they continue to do that.

“As much as it does hurt me to leave the club, it’s exciting for me to progress.”
