STRIKER Daniel Nti believes the experience of playing at the Ricoh Arena will hold Worcester City in good stead for tomorrow’s FA Cup match at Scunthorpe United (2pm).

Being overwhelmed by large stadia is always a concern for non-league teams who are much more accustomed to playing in front of relatively small crowds at relatively uninspiring grounds.

City are no exception and have not always found their best form in some of Conference North’s bigger venues.

But they revelled in their time at Coventry City’s cavernous 30,000 home and, although it was barely a third full, showed no fear in dumping the 1987 winners out of the competition for their biggest victory in more than 50 years.

Scunthorpe’s Glanford Park is much smaller by comparison, with a crowd in the region of 6,000 expected, and at least 2,200 of those will be Worcester supporters.

But Nti says City now know what to expect when they step out against Mark Robins’ League One side in front of the BBC cameras.

He said: “Going to a Football League ground will be amazing but, having been to Coventry and had that experience, although it won’t be like doing it every day, it won’t be a shock and we will know what to expect.

“Everyone is on cloud nine, all the boys are confident about the game.

“Our league form has been great and we want to take that into the game.

“We know it will be a really hard task again but we are going to stick to our game-plan.”

Nti also reckons City’s current run of form — a 13-game unbeaten sequence not seen since 1978 — has brought the best out in the players and unlocked their potential.

Nine-goal top-scorer Sean Geddes has made national headlines with his “rabona” in the FA Trophy victory over Barrow.

Meanwhile, Nti himself has eight goals to his name, including three in the last two fixtures.

The striker, in his second season with City following the step-up from Loughborough University, said: “The 13 games have given the team great confidence and the boys are trying new things.

“Sean scored two great goals at the weekend and it just shows the confidence.

“We are attacking with prowess and defending well.”

Nti added: “We had a talk after the Coventry game about keeping the form going and we have kept our minds right.

“The management didn’t allow us to get carried away with it.”
