MANAGER Paul Collicutt wants Evesham United to use their victory over league leaders Merthyr Town as a springboard for success.

The Robins won 1-0 at the Cigg-e Stadium on Tuesday to inflict a first home defeat on the Welsh outfit this season.

It was Evesham’s fourth Southern League Division One South and West victory in a row.

The Jubilee Stadium outfit are now up to eighth in the table ahead of tomorrow’s trip to fifth-placed Larkhall Athletic (3pm).

Collicutt said: “It’s probably the biggest result we have had in my time at the club.

"Everybody had written us off to get a result so to win 1-0 and keep a clean sheet was a good day at the office.

“Hopefully, now it will instil a bit more belief in the players as to what they can achieve and the standard of performance they need.

“To win the last four games with clean sheets is a huge lift for everybody at the club. Now it’s up to the players to go onwards and upwards.”

He continued: “In any sport that you play, the thing that gives everybody a lift is winning and that breeds confidence and better performances from individuals and the team.

“We have proved we can be as good as anybody in the league but we have still got a lot of hard work to do to keep the run going.”

Attacking midfielder Marcus Jackson is ruled out of the Larkhall clash in Somerset with a calf injury, while right-back Jared Wilson is a doubt through illness.

Evesham drew 0-0 at home to Larkhall on November 8 but tomorrow's match will be their first ever trip to the Plain Ham Ground.
