WARRIORS' director of rugby Dean Ryan said he was frustrated with the match officials after Saturday’s 34-17 victory over London Scottish.

Ryan believes referees are failing to reward Warriors for their dominance at the scrum.

He said: “I am really proud of the players because it was a win in difficult circumstances and it was pretty comprehensive against play-off contenders.

“I am a little bit frustrated that six months into the season and we are not getting reward for drive and high penalty count. But this is what the Championship challenge is all about.

“We are six months in and I am extremely frustrated. You get sucked into a game where you have to spend 20 minutes without the ball.

“The game of rugby is a fair contest and, when it is a fair contest, we looked fairly powerful.

“Our players are having to work out how best to win a game instead of how best to play well.

“It’s becoming a bit frustrating because we would like to win games and to play well.

“At the moment, all we can do is win games because some of the other things that we are not in control of aren’t allowing us the ball often enough and allowing our reward.

“To play 10 minutes with 13 men just makes the perceived contest stay alive for longer when there isn’t really one there.”

Ryan added: “We are forced to manage games and I thought Ryan Lamb was brilliant. He didn’t try to do too much.

“We are in pretty good spirits. I am pretty proud of the things we are trying to learn.

“We are being smart about how to win Championship games and we are getting better.

“We are just a bit frustrated that we can’t seem to be allowed to play as well as we would like to.”
