MANAGER Carl Heeley says some of his Worcester City players are not pulling their weight.

City suffered a 2-0 defeat at Gloucester City in Vanarama Conference North yesterday as their run without a goal stretched to five games in all competitions.

The Blue and Whites boss said: “We seem to have lost all of our confidence all of a sudden and have to rely on the back four to nick us a point.

“It’s frustrating and surprising.

“Our back four was our best unit and there were some good individual performances but over the rest of the park I thought we had too many players who were way off the pace.”

He continued: “When you have tough times, you have got to work through them together.

“It’s easy to single players out but we will do that in the changing rooms.

“There are some who haven’t done enough and haven’t for a number of weeks. That is something that needs resolving.

“The problem we have got is that when we go behind in games we are not a good side chasing.

“Once we get the first goal, we keep the ball well but Gloucester just seemed to be more at it than us.

“They are scrapping for their lives and wanted it more than us. They were better in most areas.”

Heeley added: “A fortunate ricochet got Gloucester in front and from that moment on it knocked the wind out of our sails.

“Then it was a case of if we can’t get a 0-0, where is the next goal coming from?

“Often that happens when you haven’t scored for a number of games but there’s a deep-rooted issue there.

“It was evident last season and it is something we have got to look at. It is no good sulking and feeling sorry for ourselves.

“There are a lot worse situations in the world than what we have got at the moment.”
