MANAGER Carl Heeley praised the efforts of Tristian Dunkley after the forward’s two goals and an assist against Chorley.

Dunkley struck either side of the break, as well as supplying Mike Symons for the third, in a match the Blue and Whites boss felt both teams deserved something from.

He said: “Tristian has been ever so patient and probably should have had more opportunities earlier in the season but his attitude has been spot on and he’s waited for his time.

“He’s had a run in the side now and got himself a few goals and we’re delighted for him.

“It’s been a big step up so we had to take our time with him but he’s proving his worth now and getting a couple of goals was great to see.

Heeley continued: “It was a good point because they are above us in the league. We’re a little bit disappointed because two out of the three were quite poor goals to concede.

“But we showed a lot of character, scored three goals away from home and got a well-deserved point. James Dean had a good chance at the end but I think we had a good call for a penalty as well when Mike Symons got into the box — I’ve seen them given.

“We were 2-1 down at half-time and we needed to come back and show a little bit of character.

“We got ourselves level and then Symmo put us in front. It’s always disappointing not to hold on but I think overall it’s a fair result. I think both sides deserved a point.

“It was a difficult surface, there were 1,100 people here and it was quite hostile but we acquitted ourselves well and both sides should take a bit of applause because it was a really entertaining game with lots of goals and end-to-end thrills.”

Captain Ellis Deeney said: “A point was the least we deserved. You would think conceding three goals away from home, you would be happy to take a point but after going 3-2 up I think we feel a bit disappointed that we didn’t get the win.”
