ROD Brown says there are some tough decisions ahead as he bids to improve the fortunes of cash- strapped Kidderminster Harriers.

The former Stourport Swifts manager, who resigned at Walshes Meadow earlier this month, is set to become the Aggborough outfit’s new vice-chairman once the Football Association paperwork has been completed.

Brown, a businessman away from football, will assess the commercial capability of the club over the next seven weeks before making recommendations to the board.

Harriers’ financial woes have been well documented this season with several big-earning players leaving, while there was a delay in staff being paid in February.

Brown, who has also had spells in charge of Redditch United and Bromsgrove Rovers, is expected to make a financial contribution, with directors supposed to put in £10,000 each season.

He said: “I will talk to every employee or person who has a role at the club to find out what’s needed to be done.

“I am a football man but I have also helped ailing businesses and run my own successfully.

“Kidderminster is a business and it must be run that way. It’s about cashflow and if that isn’t right a business cannot function.

“I wouldn’t have joined unless I had the ability to make changes and there will be tough decisions.

“It’s about everyone pulling in the right direction, that’s the only way that we can do well.

“Not everyone is going to agree with them all but they will be for the right reasons.”

He added: “While I am not a die-hard Kidderminster fan, I am a fan of football and I want Kidderminster Harriers to succeed and to bring a smile back to people’s faces.

“It won’t happen overnight, I can’t just sprinkle magic dust on in, it will take time and hard work but we can do it.”

Chairman Ken Rae said: “We’re delighted to have Rod on board, he ticks all of the boxes in terms of his business and football experience.
