WORCESTER Warriors duo Josh Watkins and Richard de Carpentier will be playing for England Sevens in the Hong Kong leg of the HSBC World Sevens Series tour.

Watkins, who is Worcester born and bred, has made four first-team appearances for Warriors this term — the last against Munster ‘A’ in the British and Irish Cup on December 5.

Watkins, who celebrated his 21st birthday last week, has impressed for Worcester Cavaliers in the Aviva A-League and has enjoyed a loan spell this term at Greene King IPA Championship strugglers Plymouth Albion.

The winger is a former Bromsgrove School student and spent time on loan at London Welsh in the 2013/14 campaign.

Back-row de Carpentier has played seven times in Warriors’ British and Irish Cup bid this term and made three substitute appearances in the Championship.

De Carpentier, a flanker, played 23 times during Dean Ryan’s first season at Sixways but his future at Worcester appears uncertain.

The Hong Kong leg of the World Sevens Series is due to get under way on Friday and it will be de Carpentier’s sixth England competition.

De Carpentier was part of the England Sevens squad who, along with Warriors team-mate James Stephenson, reached the Wellington Sevens final earlier this year and the plate semi-final in Las Vegas, USA.

England reached the cup final of the Wellington Sevens where they played the hosts but were edged out 27-21.

Speaking about the Las Vegas competition, De Carpentier said: “Vegas was a hard place to play rugby because you’re there for a week and there is so much going on you’ve got to keep yourself down to earth but it was a special experience.”

Meanwhile, on-loan young Warriors fly-half Tiff Eden scored a try and kicked seven conversions for Nottingham in a 49-32 home victory against Moseley in the Championship.
