SARACENS thrashed Grasshoppers 41-8 in their penultimate West Midlands Regional Netball League fixture.

Grasshoppers have failed to win a match this season and Saracens coach Donna McLeod took the opportunity to change the side to judge various combinations.

Hayley Taylor and Kitty Crane both made a rare start as Saracens quickly opened up a four-goal lead.

With their defence as commanding as ever, they denied Grasshoppers many shooting opportunities and led 7-1 at the end of the first quarter.

The second quarter started much the same with Saracens monopolising the scoring and extending their lead to 12 goals.

This spell was only broken by one Grasshoppers goal before Saracens again scored at will to lead 19-3 at the interval.

Saracens made four changes at half-time and it took a couple of minutes for them to find their feet. After Grasshoppers scored the first goal of the third quarter, Saracens managed six of their own to extend the lead.

The game was well won by then but a plucky Grasshoppers side never gave up. The score was 29-5 by the end of the quarter.

The fourth quarter was a case of how many goals Saracens were going to be limited to.

The final quarter drew to a close with Saracens notching up a further 12 goals to Grasshoppers' three to finish winners by 41-8 in a very one-sided game.
