EVESHAM United are a team bang in form at the moment, but they will need to excel themselves if they are to get anything out of Saturday's trip to runaway Southern League Division One Midlands leaders Brackley Town (3pm).

Paul West's side have cracked no less than 14 goals in their last five league outings, but Brackley, who have won 23 out of 29 games this season, have stormed to a 13-point lead at the summit of the table.

However, Evesham managed a 1-1 draw in the home game and West insists his side will not be in awe of the champions-elect.

He said: "They are by far the best team in this league, but we will take heart from the draw we got when we played them earlier in the season. In fact, we were unlucky not to win that game.

"But we expect to be playing the league champions and the stats do not lie.

"It will be a very difficult afternoon for us and we will have to be at our very best to get anything out of the game.

"Our last three games have been very good and hopefully the lads will take confidence from that into the Brackley game."

Evesham, who are unbeaten in their last five league games, have soared to fifth spot in the table and will have their sights firmly set on securing a play-off berth come the end of the season.

Skipper Leon Blake is set to miss out as he serves the second game of a three-match ban following a red card against Stourport Swifts.

West is hopeful that Mark Hands and Steve Duncan will have recovered from their respective groin and Achilles injuries to play a part in the game.
