JAMES Bader cracked a fine unbeaten 50 from just 33 balls as the Old Vigornians beat Chaddesley Corbett by 17 runs in the Worcestershire Cricket Board Indoor League Monday Division.

Bader was well-supported by Arti Fiaz, who made a hard-hitting 21, and Stuart Bailey (10) as the OVs posted 107-5.

Tom Mole (1-26) and Chris Mole (1-34) were the only Chaddesley bowlers to dig into the OV batting order.

Chaddesley made an efficient start to their reply with openers Matt Porter and Andy Webster putting on 46.

Both Porter (37no) and Webster (27) batted well, but the young batsmen who followed could not carry on the openers' good work.

Dave Mendham and Phil Mackie both claimed two wickets as Chaddesley slumped to 89-6.

The winning margin in the second match was also 17 runs as Rushwick came out on top of their clash with Droitwich C'.

Rushwick's openers Mark Perkins and Tim Bossenger added 43 for the first wicket before Rhys Johns bowled the former for 22. Bossenger was then ran out next ball for 12.

Glen Collins retired after scoring 27no, while Dan Hughes (12no) and Chris Colley (4 no) were unbeaten at the end as Rushwick posted 100-5.

Johns (1-28) and Chris Machin (1-9) were the only wicket-takers for Droitwich.

In their reply, Droitwich set off well through openers Max Young and Dave Watson, scoring 43. Watson was bowled by Matt Champion for 19.

Bossenger then dismissed Chris Machin and Young in an excellent double-wicket maiden. Last man Peter Gurr tried manfully to reach the target of 101 to win the game but was bowled by Bossenger with the total on 83.

In the Sunday Division, Avoncroft's 113-5 proved enough to beat RGS Worcester, who fell just short with 106-4.

Number three batsman Andy Nichol held the Avoncroft innings together with an excellent 50no, while Paul Athey chipped in with 15.

For the Grammar School, Jack Watkins (1-24) and Dan Sproul (1-22) were the wicket-takers.

After losing two early wickets, Tom Illingworth and Oli Flower steadied the RGS ship. They took the score to 93 before both retiring having passed 25.

On his return to the crease, Flower did not add to his score as he was run out for 26.

Illingworth also returned at the end of the innings and he finished unbeaten on 27 as RGS came up seven runs short of Avoncroft's total.

Meanwhile, Cutnall Green's Neil Fletcher and Derek Higgins jointly contributed 101 runs to their side's massive total of 154-4.

The huge score was plenty enough to give Cutnall Green a 58-run victory over Droitwich B'.

Fletcher and Higgins put on 50 before the former had to retire. Higgins remained at the crease while the other batsmen were dismissed, bringing the prolific Fletcher back to the middle.

The duo carried on where they left off, adding a further 51 runs together. Fletcher ended on 60no, while Higgins was unbeaten on 44.

Craig Hunt (2-37), Mike Wallis (1-36) and Nigel Haddock (1-41) were the Droitwich wicket-takers.

Facing such a massive total, the Droitwich batsmen were never really in contention for a win. However, Haddock batted well for 37, but no-one could match the hitting power of Fletcher and Higgins as Droitwich's innings ended on 98. Higgins (1-23) was the only Cutnall Green wicket-taker.
