EVESHAM United boss Paul West is distancing himself from play-off talk following his side's latest excellent result.

The Robins won 2-1 at Southern League Division One Midlands leaders Brackley Town on Saturday, despite having goalkeeper Nathan Vaughan sent off, and head to basement boys Berkhamsted Town tomorrow night looking for their fourth win in a row (7.45).

But manager West says reaching the play-offs has become a taboo subject in the dressing room and he is just concentrating on the next game.

Evesham currently occupy fifth spot, the last play-off position, having taken 50 points from 30 games.

West said: "It was a fantastic result at Brackley. They have been phenomenal this season. The lads showed fantastic determination and deserved to win. It's not just about the result, it's the way we have gone about earning that result.

"When we got the goal there was only one team in it and we were very comfortable at 2-0 but having the goalkeeper sent off made the last 15 minutes edgy.

"The league is tight and, from my point of view, if we are good enough and there's no reason why we shouldn't be, then it will take care of itself.

"All we can do is take each game as it comes and prepare correctly for each one."

Striker Tory Wood makes his last appearance of his one-month loan spell for United tomorrow night before returning to Worcester City.

Wood joined the club after Richard Ball signed for Redditch and has scored four goals in four games.

However, captain Leon Blake misses the game as he serves the last of his three-game ban.
