FREEDOM of speech is a wonderful thing.

For without it, City fans would not be able to voice their opinions, good or bad, on the club they love.

And Andy Morrison would not have been able to vent his spleen at a section of supporters last week. Nor would I be at liberty to report it or write this column.

I have come under fire from a section of supporters claiming I deliberately set out to discredit the club with a 'sensationalist' story. Allow me to put the record straight - Morrison approached me to make his comments public.

Following the Droylsden match, City's assistant manager actively sought me out to deliver his tirade.

What appeared in last Tuesday's Worcester News was exactly what Morrison said.

For fans to suggest that I acted recklessly to divide the club is insulting.

This newspaper aims to reflect opinions from all sides and not to report such quotes would have been a dereliction of duty.

Both Morrison and supporters club vice-chairman Keith Chambers were quoted in the same story.

It is not this newspaper's job to censor Worcester City FC stories, nor are we their PR firm.

If sections of City's support don't like what Morrison said, so be it.

Like I said, freedom of speech is a wonderful thing.
