CHAIRMAN Ken Rae and two other Kidderminster Harriers directors have left the club following intervention from the major shareholders.

Neil Savery, Barry Norgrove and Jane Murrant acted at Aggborough after a meeting with benefactors Kath and Ernie Lane.

Along with Rae’s resignation, Gino Ruffinato and John Davies, who have worked tirelessly for the club in recent years, have also stepped down.

The news comes amid financial uncertainty at the Conference club with players and staff having to wait for the full payment of wages in each of the last two months.

A small section of supporters also displayed a banner during the 3-0 home defeat to Bristol Rovers on Easter Monday asking ‘Where’s the money gone?’.

Vice-chairman Rod Brown remains at the club along with Wayne Allen and Kidderminster Harriers Independent Supporters’ Trust representatives Geoff Coles and Dave Williams.

A statement from the club said: “This new situation has afforded the shareholders and the board of directors an opportunity to restructure the administration of the club to enable it to meet the challenges currently being faced by many football clubs.

“The aim is to attract further investment into the club and to provide a secure future for its administrative staff, coaching staff and players.”

On the trio’s departure, it read: “We thank them each for their valuable input and efforts on behalf of the club and in particular their services following the sudden resignation last year of the former chairman and his wife.

“There was a serious gap to be filled and they willingly rose to the challenge.”

The Lanes have paid an estimated £130,000 to the club since the summer, thought to be more than they had been contractually obliged to.

Harriers visit Welling United tomorrow (3pm).
