WORCESTER Warriors’ supporters can play a huge part in Wednesday’s Aviva Premiership decider against Bristol at Sixways (7.45pm).

Director of rugby Dean Ryan is calling on Worcester’s fans to get fully behind his players in the do-or-die showdown.

The ground will be packed to the rafters with a 12,024 sell-out crowd descending on Sixways for the Championship play-off final second leg.

More than 3,000 Bristol supporters are expected to have snapped up tickets for the clash. Ryan said: “We have managed to get the game back to Sixways on a pretty even wicket and we need every margin and every person in Worcester to give us a chance.

“The game is not going to be easy and we need every advantage we can gain.

“Ashton Gate was a pretty difficult environment in which to get a result – it was very noisy.

“We recognise the fans who followed us down to Bristol and were vocal and we need everybody involved in this club and Worcester to get behind and give us the best chance of winning.”

Should Warriors be successful in their Premiership bid, Ryan said it would be recognition of how much the club have progressed after last season’s comprehensive relegation.

“Whoever gets promoted to the Premiership will be faced with a massive challenge,” said Ryan.

“We have been trying to get this club ready for that challenge.

“Whether that’s on Wednesday night, getting into the Premiership is what the challenge is.

“We showed elements of being able to play at a Premiership level against Bristol.

“Have we got a squad who can do that every week in the Premiership? Probably not – that’s the challenge we face.

“But I know all the people at the club can get better with the experience.”

Ryan believes Worcester might have surprised viewers who tuned in to watch their 29-28 first leg triumph at Ashton Gate last Wednesday.

He added: “We are in a position, irrespective of when we get into the Premiership, that we are learning and getting better.

“We can’t shy away from how tough life in the Premiership would be and I am sure neither are Bristol.

“Maybe we surprised a few people by the level at which we can play and the intensity we showed against Bristol.

“Whoever goes up will have a massive challenge in front of them. This club is preparing for when they go up to ensure they can make the most of the opportunity.”
