GOALKEEPER Karl Lewis is set to play the rest of the season for Evesham United.

Lewis has proved an able deputy for number one choice Nathan Vaughan in recent weeks and is in line for a recall in Saturday's Southern League Division One Midlands match at Woodford United (3pm).

Vaughan was sent off for the third time this season during Monday's 2-0 defeat against Bishops Cleeve, only his second game back after serving a four-match ban.

The Robins 'keeper is not due to serve his ban until next week but manager Paul West has decided to throw Lewis in for the last three games of the season for continuity.

Vaughan will be forced to sit out along with central defender Anthony Watson (back) for a match that could virtually cement Evesham's place in the play-offs.

They are currently third in the table but Woodford are two places behind and have hopes of a top-five finish themselves.

"We have got to be positive," West declared. "Our aim is to get maximum points from the last three games. Saturday is not the be all and end all but it will go a long way to helping us."

He said: "It's about performances and results take care of themselves. When we have struggled, it's because our performance hasn't been right.

"We have got a little bit to do as we were disappointing against Bishops Cleeve."

Evesham are also celebrating after being named club-of-the-month for March following six victories from nine games.

West added: "It's nice to actually win something but whatever the outcome this season the lads have been super. They have worked hard and all I can say to them now is keep going."
