WORCESTER Wolves have continued their squad rebuild by signing 6ft 8ins power forward Pavol Losonsky.

The 27-year-old Slovakian international joins the British Basketball League outfit for the coming season and will team up again with fellow new Wolves addition Jay Couisnard.

Both men played for Leicester Riders in their triple titlewinning campaign in 2012-13 when Losonsky averaged 13 points and six rebounds per game.

Over the past season at Leicester, Bratislava-born Losonsky played limited minutes yet still averaged nine points and five rebounds per game.

Wolves coach Paul James said: “I’ve tried to sign Pavol for the past couple of seasons and I’m grateful to the Wolves board for making it possible.

“He is another smart and quality player we have added to our roster and one who knows how to win.

“I believe the best is still yet to come from Pavol and I’m looking forward to him showing his true qualities with Wolves and within our system.

Pavol is a great addition to our team.”

Losonsky said: “I am very excited about joining Wolves and also can’t wait to play alongside my former teammate Jay.

“I am returning to a league that I already know and understand and am thankful Wolves are giving me an opportunity to show what I am really capable of.

“For me, it will be a third year in the BBL but with a new team, place and coach.

“But I am ready for the new challenge. My goals stay the same and those are winning trophies.

“Hopefully, Worcester’s fans are just as excited about the new season as I am.”

Worcester managing director Mick Donovan said: “Throughout the summer, we have adopted a creative yet thoughtful approach to our recruitment and we believe Pavol will complement the other new recruits.

“We hope to be announcing another significant and exciting signing in the coming week.”

Along with Couisnard, Wolves have already recruited Ashton Khan, Malik Smith, Javier Mugica and Perris Blackwell.

Disraeli Lufadeju was the only player to remain with the University Arena club from last season’s squad.

Captain Alex Owumi and player-of-the-season Jamal Williams departed along with Chavis Holmes, Robert Thurman, Paul Guede, Robertas Bitinas, Kalil Irving and Caylin Raftopoulos.

Wolves finished third in the 2014-15 BBL table but crashed out at the first hurdle in the play-offs.
