MALVERN Town manager Paul Molloy believes his side have enjoyed a successful season despite their recent run of results.

The Langland Stadium side have only won one of their last 10 Southern League Division One Midlands games and went down 3-1 at home to Rushall Olympic last weekend.

But victory at Sutton Coldfield Town on Saturday (3pm) would see them finish their first season in the league since promotion from the Midland Alliance on a respectable 50 points.

Molloy said: "We dominated the second-half and Rushall scored twice on the break.

"We had chances and couldn't put the ball in the back of the net. They had two chances and scored, and that's been the story all season.

"We haven't finished our chances and sometimes we have had more than other teams.

"We really wanted to finish on a high and we felt a bit deflated after dominating the second-half. But we have learned this season that if you don't take your chances you don't win games."

The manager continued: "Hopefully we can finish on 50 points - that would be a nice total to finish on.

"We have been disappointing over the last five weeks. We wanted to finish mid-table but at the start of the season we would have taken where we are. Just staying in the league was the priority and establishing ourselves."

Malvern will be at full-strength for Saturday's trip to Sutton Coldfield and boosted by Wes Joyce's return to the team following suspension.

The utility player has sat out the last six games after being sent off four times in a stop-start season.

Sutton, who can finish in 12th place at best, will be without former Town defender Lee Knight through suspension.

Molloy added: "They have under-achieved because I know they have a big budget."
