EVESHAM United manager Paul West has called on his players to maintain their positive attitude going into Saturday's crucial match at home to Leighton Town (3pm).

Victory for the Robins would secure them one of the four play-off places in Southern League Division One Midlands and keep them on course for an immediate return to the Premier Division.

West has been pleased with his side's recent efforts, which have seen them take 13 points from their last six matches.

They also drew 0-0 in the first leg of their Worcestershire Senior Cup final at Stourbridge on Tuesday.

But now the focus switches to St George's Lane as United aim to put themselves into the play-off semi-finals on Tuesday.

Boss West said: "Everybody's looking at it and what we are trying to do is focus on what we have got to do.

"It's in our hands so I would rather be in that position than looking at other results.

"We don't want to go into the game and complicate things. We need to be as positive as we have all season and that won't change.

"If we do the right things I am sure we will get the maximum points we need."

Although safe from relegation, opponents Leighton sit fifth-bottom after just one win in their last seven matches.

But West said: "If we're not to the levels we have been for the majority of the season it will be a difficult afternoon for us.

"We have produced some good results in the last few weeks but that will count for nothing.

"The bottom line is for the players not to let themselves down."

Midfielder Mark Hands (groin) was rested for Tuesday's cup final and is expected to feature against Leighton, while striker Danny Lennon came off in the latter stages against Stourbridge with Saturday in mind.
