BROMSGROVE Rovers boss Rod Brown will field a strong side for Saturday's Southern League Division One Midlands trip to Rushall Olympic to give Nathan Lamey a shot at the golden boot.

Striker Lamey is currently joint top scorer across all three Southern League divisions with 31 goals alongside Richard Gillespie, of Bashley.

Brown had planned to send a young side to Rushall to rest his players ahead of next Tuesday's play-off semi-final at the Victoria Ground.

But, with Lamey up for the top prize, Rovers - who virtually guaranteed second place with last Saturday's 3-1 win over Woodford - will be close to full strength for the last day of the league programme.

Brown said: "Before Saturday's game I had made my mind up that I would play a weakened side against Rushall if we got the result against Woodford to save everybody for Tuesday.

"Nathan Lamey is leading the golden boot for the three divisions on 31 goals and all the other players have got one game left but we have the play-offs as well.

"I would like the lad to get the golden boot and we need to play a better team to create chances for him so I will play a stronger side."

But Brown will still rest Carl Heeley, Wayne Dyer and Kevin Banner for the visit to Walsall as he considers them key to their play-off chances.

He said: "They are very important for what I am looking to do on Tuesday and will be on the bench."

Barring a freak set of results on Saturday, in which Chasetown would have to better Rovers' result by six clear goals, Brown's side will be at home to the fifth-placed team on Tuesday.
