KIDDERMINSTER Harriers manager Gary Whild is hoping centre-back Kelvin Langmead will be in contention for today’s trip to newly-promoted Guiseley in the Vanarama National League (3pm).

The 30-year-old missed Tuesday’s 3-2 defeat at Dover Athletic after being taken off at half-time with a heal problem in Harriers’ opening-day 2-2 draw against Grimsby Town at Aggborough.

Langmead’s absence has been felt as the Reds conceded five goals in their opening two league games, while Reece Styche is nursing a hamstring problem.

Whild said: “Kelvin had a heavy fall on Saturday but I’m hoping he’ll be OK for Guiseley.

“I felt for the players after the Dover game. We played some good football, scored some excellent goals and didn’t deserve to lose.

“Kelvin is one of our more experienced players and I think if he’d have played on Tuesday we’d have got something from the game.”

Styche and Aman Verma bagged levellers as Kidderminster demonstrated spirit to come from behind twice to grab a point in their opening match against Grimsby.

Adam Dawson and Gurjit Singh bagged their first competitive goals for Harriers at Dover only for Stefan Payne to hit a late winner for the Kent club.

Guiseley’s nickname is The Lions and they roared back from a 1-0 away defeat against Welling on the opening day to seal a 1-0 success over Altrincham at Nethermoor Park on Tuesday.

Rob Atkinson’s first-half header fired Mark Bower’s Guiseley side to an a historic maiden win after their promotion at the end of last season.

Whild said: “I was pleased for Adam and Gurjit, they both scored well-taken goals.

Gurjit is like a lot of lads who we have brought in and has made the step up.”

Whild has continued to freshen his squad with Kennedy Digie having joined Tyrone Williams on-loan at Hednesford and striker Jamie Spencer switching to Worcester City on a month’s loan.

He has brought in West Bromwich Albion youngster Tahvon Campbell on a youth loan and he teams up with fellow Baggies rookies Andre Wright and Alex Palmer.
