SOLIHULL Moors have signed Aston Villa reserve goalkeeper Benjamin Siegrist on a month’s loan.

The National League North club have an injury crisis and Siegrist has joined in time for today’s visit from Worcester City in the FA Cup third round qualifying round (3pm).

Moors manager Marcus Bignot said: “For the Moors this is a big step in the loan market.

“We have been in talks with clubs about some top end academy goalkeepers from Premier League and League clubs and this shows where the club has come in being able to attract such a talented individual.

“What a game for Benjamin to start his Solihull career. We all know how important FA Cup matches are to clubs at this level and it should be an exciting game for the spectators.”

City have a fully-fit squad, which includes the addition of the experienced Wayne Thomas, and are expected to be backed by a large travelling support.

Worcester crashed to a 3-0 league defeat at Solihull earlier in the season and Moors have climbed to the top of the table.

City are unbeaten in four matches, with just one loss in seven, and recorded an impressive 2-0 win at FC United of Manchester last Friday.

They have reached the third qualifying round after Deon Burton and Daniel Nti struck in 2-0 victory against Holbeach United after the original tie had finished 1-1.

Solihull recorded a 3-1 win against Oadby Town and are unbeaten in all competitions.

Meanwhile, Worcester City’s under 18s bowed out of the FA Youth Cup, despite a spirited display, in a 3-1 reverse against AFC Wulfrunians.

Wulfrunians took a 2-0 lead before City reduced arrears in the 53rd minute through Joe Hingley. However, Wulfunians strength showed and they sealed the win with their third goal of the match.
