WORCESTER Warriors have bolstered their options in the front row by signing Georgian international hooker Jaba Bregvadze.

The 28-year-old forward has joined up with his new teammates ahead of this weekend’s clash with Gloucester.

Bregvadze has represented his country 32 times, featuring at both the 2011 and 2015 Rugby World Cups.

The hooker helped Georgia to wins over Tonga and Namibia at the Rugby World Cup, while also impressing against Argentina as they finished third in their pool, booking them a place at the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan.

For the past three seasons, Bregvadze has been competing in France’s Top 14 for Toulouse, where he was part of a side that finished in the top four in each of the last three campaigns.

Bregvadze said: “Both myself and my family are very excited about the move to Worcester.

“Having played in the Top 14 for a number of years, I’m keen to test and prove myself in the Aviva Premiership against some of the very best teams in Europe.

“Dean Ryan and the rest of the Warriors coaching staff are really building something here and I can’t wait to get started and play a big part in it.”

Director of rugby Ryan said: "Jaba is an experienced international who will add strength and depth to our front row.

“We’ve been really impressed by his performances at the Rugby World Cup and are excited to be able add him to our squad.

“He will add more competition for the number two shirt while being able to drive standards of some of our younger players in what is a key area.”
