BROMSGROVE will host a delegation from Czech Rugby during a three-day visit next month.

The trip forms continued links between North Midlands, Staffordshire and the Czech Republic as part of the RFU’s Unity Project.

Bromsgrove will provide a coaching opportunity for Daniel Benes, the country’s national coach, with their colts team on Friday, December 4, and host the Czech delegation the following day.

The weekend will include planning for a unity conference in Prague in January, which will also involve an indoor rugby tournament.

More than 300 mini and junior players from across the Czech Republic will compete for the Unity Cup.

Workshops will take place involving officials from North Midlands and Staffordshire and RFU professional staff, who will use their expertise to help develop rugby in the country.

Next month’s visit follows a trip to the Czech Republic by North Midlands and Staffordshire officials in August 2014.

There was a reciprocal visit by senior members of Czech Rugby last January to Aston Old Edwardians and Woodrush.

North Midlands and Staffordshire have been twinned with the Czech Republic as part of the Unity Project.

Meanwhile, high-flying Bromsgrove lost 25-18 at home to lowly Old Northamptonians in National Three Midlands.

The visitors scored first through scrum-half Lewis Barker’s try by the posts, which Alex Rose converted.

The Boars responded when Tom Hardwick forced a penalty and Richard Mahoney kicked the points.

The home pack began to asset their authority and a huge 40-metre driving maul ended with a try from Greg Campion.

Mahoney missed an easy conversion and ONs hit back with Mike Bellamy’s try in the corner from Rose’s chip.

But Bromsgrove went ahead just before half-time when Ed Spalding scored after a powerful surge from skipper Phil Horton and Mahoney’s conversion made it 18-15.

In a tight second half, the visitors enjoyed most of the territory and Alex Crofts scored a converted try before Rose kicked a penalty to complete the scoring.
