WORCESTER Warriors prop Nick Schonert has had 40 stitches in his face after leaving the field during yesterday’s 48-18 defeat against Saracens at Twickenham.

Schonert, known as Sharky, Tweeted the picture last night and Worcester's supporters have been commenting on the gruesome injury on Warriors Rugby Supporters Club's Facebook page.

Schonert left the fray, covered in blood after allegedly being struck in the face by a boot during the second-half of the Aviva Premiership match.

His mother, Sue Schonert, told worried Worcester supporters her son had needed 40 stitches in the nasty-looking wound.

Happily, the Warriors player has Tweeted a new photograph this morning showing the stitches in place.

"All cleaned up!! Was just unlucky but I know it wasn't intentional. Was such a privilege to play at twickenham," Schonert Tweeted to his followers.
