PERSHORE finished one point off third place in the Arena National League second round despite a number of withdrawals and tough competition.

Macey French, Izzie Cumming, Jasmine Taite, Hannah Simister, Josh Sharrat and Max Aris stepped in to swim personal bests.

Other swimmers swam outside of their normal age group and strokes as Pershore went a long way towards surviving in their division.

Patrick Heeks was third in the 15/u 100-metre butterfly in 1.12.99 and Megan Annis second in the 100m breaststroke in 1.15.60 for valuable points.

Simon Sweatman won both the 13/u 100m freestyle (1.00.00) and backstroke and Chris Vizard also took the gold in the 100m butterfly (1.09.18).

Jasmine Franks, 11, won the 50m butterfly (35.00) and breaststroke (41.87).

Callum Sanderson and Amy Cooper impressed as did Drew Jones in the 100m breaststroke (1.21.95).

Naomi Marsden, 13, was first in the 100m backstroke in 1.13.20.

The boys’13/u 4x50m freestyle team of Heeks, Sweatman, Vizard and Luke Perry also won.

At the Worcester open, Pershore won 22 gold medals, 26 silvers and 23 bronzes.

Lauren Annis, 10, was the star with seven golds and three silvers, clocking impressive PBs.

Hannah Woodcock, 11, claimed three golds and eight silvers.

For the 12-year-olds, Megan Annis won one gold, five silvers and four bronzes, while Alex Barry secured five silvers and five bronzes.

Gabriella Barry, 10, won the 50m butterfly and managed bronze in the 50m backstroke.

Izzie Cumming, 13, took bronze in the 100m butterfly and produced PBs in all her 15 races.

Emily Burton won bronze in the 15/16 years 400m individual medley despite nursing a fractured elbow.

There were also medals for Naomi Marsden, Amy Cooper, Macey French, Jasmine Taite, Isabella Woodcock, Charlotte Downey and Hannah Simister.

The boys secured medals through David Annis with eight golds, Patrick Heeks, Luke Perry, George Howard and Jamie West.
