CHAIRMAN Anthony Hampson has quashed speculation Worcester City could be playing their football away from Aggborough next season.

Rumours suggested they were looking at other venues, including a possible ground-share with Midland League side Bromsgrove Sporting.

With landlords Kidderminster Harriers facing relegation to National League North, the two sides could meet in the same division next season, which has fuelled speculation over the current agreement.

However, Hampson insisted City had no plans to leave Aggborough where they have plied their trade since 2013.

“As it stands, we have a contract in place that covers both this season and next season with Kidderminster Harriers,” Hampson said.

“Looking at alternatives elsewhere is pure speculation. The club are pleased to be working with Harriers and have been so far this season and into next.

“Our playing staff have been particularly impressed with the standard of pitches the Kidderminster groundstaff have produced in the winter months under trying weather conditions.”

In May 2015, Harriers and Worcester agreed a one-season arrangement with an option for a second season.

The National League club confirmed City would continue to pay them a set sum on a match-by-match basis for the hire and use of Aggborough and its facilities.

However, before reaching this deal, City’s board considered moving to Bromsgrove’s Victoria Ground and Evesham United’s Jubilee Stadium.

Evesham chairman Jim Cockerton said: “We would welcome City if they wanted to come. It would help improve our income streams, so we would look at it and they would be looked after perfectly well.”

Bromsgrove chairman Jon Prescott said there was no truth in the rumours, adding: “We would love to have Worcester City at Bromsgrove but there is no agreement for next season.”

Worcester City Supporters’ Trust’s application for a new ground at Perdiswell is yet to go before a Worcester City Council planning committee.
