WORCESTER Reds travelled to Buckinghamshire for a narrow 29-28 win at Clan in Premier League Two.

The Princes Risborough School hosts, a feeder team for National Superleague side Surrey Storm, enjoyed the lead for the first few minutes.

But Reds, who lost 51-20 at home to leaders Tameside the previous week, settled into the first quarter’s fast pace and led 9-4.

Mid-table Clan scored four goals in succession to close the margin to 17-14 by half time.

Clan narrowed the advantage to 25-24 for the start of the fourth quarter. Reds made three changes with the debut of centre court player Erin Allport at wing attack.

The battle intensified and a low-scoring final quarter saw Clan put up 12 attempts with four goals. But Reds’ six shots also yielded four goals to win 29-28.

New signing Allport was awarded player of the match for a determined first appearance.

Reds remain third in the table ahead of Sunday’s derby with Bromsgrove side Ryland, who are second, at the University of Worcester’s St John’s campus (12.30pm).
